Community Quilts donates quilts to several agencies in our community that help children and adults: Adult Protective Services of Montgomery County, the Rainbow Room which supplies quilts to Child Protective Services of Montgomery County, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Child Advocates of Montgomery County (formerly CASA), Montgomery County Women's Center, and Camp For All. We have also donated quilts to Ronald McDonald House, and Project Linus.
Most of these organizations ask for twin size, approximately 60" x 80", and some request extra long twin size, 70" x 90". Throw size quilts are approximately 50" x 65" and they are useful for most agencies. We also accept smaller quilts- baby size approximately 36" x 36-40", and crib size 45" x 60".
All donated quilts should be allergy free- no smoke, pet hair, or perfume. Machine binding is recommended because the quilts need to be able to withstand frequent machine washing and drying.

Fabric Donation Guidelines
Thank you for considering The Woodlands Area Quilt Guild to receive your fabric donation. We have many generous quilters ask about donating their stash. Since we have specific organizations that receive the quilts we make, we have established the following guidelines for accepting fabric donations.
If your donation meets these requirements, please contact president@waqg.org with a brief description of what you have. We may request additional details or pictures to determine if we have adequate storage. If we can accept your donation, we will arrange to meet you.
1- Only 100% cotton quilting fabric- no poly/cotton blends, polished cottons, drapery or garment (home dec) fabric.
2- Fabric must be new- it can have been pre-washed (unscented detergent) - no recycled fabric from garments, curtains/drapes or previously made projects.
3- Fabric must have been properly stored – cardboard boxes from the attic or garage can’t be accepted due to possible mold, mildew and/or insect damage.
4- Donations should be clean and free from pet hair.
5- If you are a smoker and store your fabric where you smoke, we cannot use it. Even if your fabric has been aired out, once we touch it with a hot iron and steam, the smell comes back. Many of our quilts are donated to people with pre-existing conditions or possible allergies- we don’t want to make their situation worse.
6- No cuts under 1/8 yard or fat quarter- we already have plenty of scraps. Anything under 1/8 yard (9” x width of fabric) or a fat quarter (18” x 21”) will not be accepted. We also do not need miscellaneous leftover pieces or blocks.
7- We will accept some UFOs that contain all the fabric and the instructions for completing the quilt. Please include any specialty ruler required for construction.
8- No fabric older than 15 years old- fabric does have a ‘shelf life’ and we want the quilts we donate to be durable for a reasonable period.
9- Please do not drop off anonymous donations at the table at Guild meetings.
Thank you for your understanding. We all want fabric to go to a “good use,” but the guild is limited in the type we can accept and store.

The Woodlands Area Quilt Guild was formed in February of 1994, and has continued to grow to over 200 members. Our monthly meetings focus on building members' skills through national and local speakers, workshops, block of the month, quilting challenges, and show and tell.
Our small groups, known as Bees, give members a chance to make long lasting friendships and increase individual quilting skills.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity.
